Week of Well-being 2017

The annual Week of Well-being is here again! The week is hosted in cooperation by VYY and the University of Vaasa, and this year’s theme is mental health and well-being. The week’s events are open to all University of Vaasa students and staff. Come get some useful information and swag at the Mini-fair and try the week’s demo-lessons!

Join the Week of Well-being Facebook event and like the VYY Facebook page to get the latest updates during the week! The Facebook event will also feature a daily mindfulness tip and exercise!

 

WEEK OF WELL-BEING PROGRAM

ALL WEEK (MON–FRI)

  • Wasa Sports Club gym + group exercises free of charge for students and University personnel
  • Well-being theme in Juvenes restaurants on campus:
    • A bigger breakfast selection at Café Oskar (including naturell yogurt and berry compote). Café Oskar also features a coloring book station, where you can take a creative break!
    • A quark bar all week in Restaurant Erkki
    • A bigger salad selection in Restaurant Mathilda
    • At the Mini-fair on Tuesday and Wednesday, Juvenes gives samples of tapenade, hummus and Juvenes crisp bread
  • All Week of Well-being events give a stamp on your Well-being pass (1 stamp/event), get 2 stamps to enter the raffle!

MONDAY 30.10.

11.00–13.00 What’s Up VYY @ Tritonia
The Student Union hosts the What’s Up VYY stand, where the topic is student mental health. Do you have questions or feedback regarding the University support services or Student Union well-being activities? Come meet the VYY supervision of interests sector and hear about the #onokei -campaign, which aims to familiarize students with the key personnel at University support services!

12.00–13.30 Week of Well-being opening ceremony @ Auditorio Nissi
Director Auli Kinnunen will give an opening speech, and after that VYY Anette Vuorenmaan will speak about student mental well-being. After this Lisa Mäkelä will be talking about different kinds of mental wellbeing and mindfulness. The opening will be held in Finnish.

TUESDAY 31.10.

11.00–12.00 Wasa YogaCenter: Yoga demo @ Domus Bothnica Wärtsilä Hall
The Wasa YogaCenter Yoga demo is an introduction to yoga. Remember to bring your own yoga mat for this session! Max 30 participants, no pre-registration.

15.00–16.00 Wasa Sports Club: Yoga Meditation @ Wasa Sports Club
An introduction to the basics of yoga and meditation as well as various methods for balancing the mind, body and soul while increasing strength and self-awareness.

THURSDAY 2.11.

11.30–12.00 FSHS Psychologist Hanna Kieslich: Basics of Stress Control @D103
The lecture covers basic techniques in controlling stress in studies and everyday life.

15.00–16.00 Opintopsykologi Anna-Mari Rouru: Vitkuttelusta valmiiksi – maisteriksi 2018! @ F140 (In Finnish)

11.00–12.00 Life Quality Project Finland ry: Ireca Method Demo @ Domus Bothnica Wärtsilä Hall
An introduction to the Ireca self-treatment method, which aims at balancing the body and the mind. Max 25 participants.
