Apply to be a tutor 2026
Do you want to participate in organizing the century’s most memorable tutor project for 2026? Are you eager to help new students blend into the Student Union’s community? VYY is now recruiting tutors regardless of field and year of study!
We are recruiting TUTORS for VYY’s tutor project
Tutors work together with VYY’s tutor coordinators and educators, and help them manage the project. Some of tutors’ tasks are welcoming the new students, taking care of their own fresher group, helping them get their studies started, and helping them integrate into the community of the University.
We are looking for people who are enthusiastic, capable of teamwork, and ready to hold reins in their hands. Like always, creativity, diligence, and innovativity will be emphasized right away in spring. Tutors are required to commit to the project and bear responsibility over their fresher group for the whole period of the project.
The application period for tutors is open from March 4 to March 15, 2026.
This year the tutor project will once again include tutoring new international students and exchange students, so fluent English language skills and knowledge of international programs are considered an advantage.
Interviews will be held on the 23rd of March. You have to be able to participate in an interview. Tutor training is held on April 7, 9, and 10. Participating in training is obligatory for all tutors, so if you are applying, please save these dates into your calendar.
Apply the latest by March 15, 2026 by filling out the Google Forms application form. NOTE! If you want to be an international tutor fill the form “International tutors 2026” and if you want to tutor exchange students (Vaasa only) fill the form “Exchange tutors 2026”.

Apply to VYY's Event Team
Are you interested in organizing events and would like to participate in planning projects for the Student Union? Now is your chance!
The Student Union of The University of Vaasa is looking for MEMBERS FOR THE THE EVENT TEAM
VYY is looking for positive and energetic people for the Event Team!
The Event Team operates with VYY’s board member responsible for events. The team participates in brainstorming and creating VYY’s events, and team members gain experience in event-related communication and corporate relations. Additionally, the Event Team assists in the implementation of VYY’s projects.
Team members are not required to have previous experience in organizing events. Most important are motivation and enthusiasm for organising events and for the activities of the Student Union.
In the Event Team, you can participate in the activities of the Student Union and gain experience that is useful for tutoring or working in VYY’s Executive Board. As a part of the Event Team, you will also receive other benefits to VYY’s events and attend VYY's thank you dinner to active members of our community.

VYY-Alumni ry
VYY-Alumni ry is the alumni association for the Student Union of the University of Vaasa. The association’s aim is to unite VYY actors from all time periods.
VYY-Alumni organizes annual events, company visits, and afterwork events that unite current and future alumni. The association was founded on 15 February 2013. It works in close cooperation with the student union and strives to support the student union through its network.
You are eligible to become a full member if you have actively worked for the benefit of the Student Union of the University of Vaasa. Any legal person who has advanced the Student Union’s aims can join as a supporting member.
The annual fee for individuals is 20 €/year or 100 €/lifetime membership. The supporting membership fee is 200 €/year.
You can join VYY-Alumni ry by filling out the membership application form and by paying the membership fee to the association’s bank account. As a member, you also support the Student Union through the alumnus association.
Projects
VYY recruits new project workers every year to organize various student events. As a project worker, you get valuable event organization experience and new contacts.
Boom City Appro: You can apply to become an Approcoordinator on your own or with a friend. The coordinator is responsible for planning, marketing and organizing the event.
Tutor Project: Every year, VYY hires two tutor coordinators for a part-time position. The coordinators organize the application process for tutor instructor and tutor positions.
Annual Ball: The annual ball coordinator is recruited to plan the party and the accompanying events, to find partners and to organise the event. There are many traditions associated with the celebrations, which you can read more about on the tradition page.
Positions of trust
In addition to the Representative Council, the Student Union elects a Board each year to be responsible for the operational activities of the Student Union. The Board term is a calendar year, and we look for applications annually in October-November.
In accordance with the University Act, students have representation in the university decision-making bodies. The administration student representatives (also referred to as HallOpEds) in the administrations of the University, VOAS and FSHS are elected every other year. We also occasionally have application periods for administration student representative positions mid-term, as student representatives are relieved of their duties for instance due to graduation.

Representative council
The student union's highest decision-making body is the 30-member Student Council. It is elected every two years. You can become a RepCo member by standing for election. The RepCo meetings are open to all VYY members, and we stream the meetings on the Student Union's Instagram. So if you are interested in the actions of RepCo, you can come along and follow the meetings.
Teams
Every year, the Students Union seeks people to join different teams. Teams are an easy way to gain experience in areas such as event organisation and communication.
In recent years, VYY has had teams such as Event Team, The VYY annual party team and BoomCityAppro staff.
