Grants
VYY awards grants to organizations and projects operating within the Student Union, and they are distributed by VYY’s Executive Board. In addition to our grants, the City of Vaasa, various foundations, the Ministry of Education and Culture, and the European Union award grants to various projects. You can ask for advice with all grants from our Board member responsible for organizations.
VYY’s operational grants are given to support the yearly activities of organizations. The application period opens in early spring, and we inform organizations about the schedule through our communciation channels. We accept operational grant applications only through our electronic application form, accompanied by the required attachments. In addition to the operational grant, an association, group, or individual member within VYY can apply for a project grant, e.g. for new events or other project-based needs.
VYY’s project grant is open for application all year. With project grants, we aim to support new students and organizations in their new projects, in founding new organizations, in organizing new events, and in participating in events. You can apply for a project grant at any point, and they are awarded by VYY’s Executive Board. A single applicant or organization can receive several project grants during the year, no more than worth 250€ in total. NOTE! Individuals are also eligible to apply for a project grant. The grants have previously been awarded for participation fees, launching new event concepts, and other projects.
Operational grant
Existing registered associations operating within VYY can apply for the operational grant. The grant may be awarded to support politically non-affiliated organizations.

The application period for operational grants in 2026 is open from 16 February to 8 March 2026. You can apply by filling out the electronic application form and sending the required attachments.
Project grant
A VYY member, a group of students, or an association operating within VYY are all eligible to apply for a project grant. The grant is awarded for project-based needs, such as for organizing events.
