The board of the Student Union of the University of Vaasa elected Vili Saarinen (pictured left) and Topi Lehtinen as new fair coordinators in the summer. The fair coordinators are responsible for organizing the autumn Contact recruitment fair. The coordinators have started planning the fair in late summer and the project will culminate in the recruitment fair to be held in the autumn.
“The Contact recruitment fair is an interesting project and an important matter. We strive to get as wide a range of employers as possible to the fair, so that everyone can find interesting jobs, internships or projects,” Saarinen summarizes the upcoming fair project.
Saarinen and Lehtinen are studying business administration in the industrial management field at the University of Vaasa. The duo has, among other things, organized Warrantti ry's RannikkoApprot in 2023, when the event grew significantly. Both have a diverse previous work history. Saarinen has worked at Rinta-Joupin Autoliikke and Lehtinen HR Satama, among others.
“Although we have no previous experience in organizing recruitment fairs, we are nevertheless experienced event organizers and salespeople. We have work experience in HR tasks as well as in successful sales tasks and financial planning. So we are starting this new project with confidence,” Lehtinen sums up the duo’s experience.
The Contact recruitment fair will be organized in the fall after a break of over a year. The purpose of the autumn fair is to bring employers and students together, especially regarding thesis positions and jobs that are suitable for studying. The fair will be held on the campus of the University of Vaasa on October 23, 2024.
“It’s great to have experienced event organizers like Vili and Topi holding the Contact recruitment fair this fall. I believe that as students’ incomes decline, their need for work alongside their studies will increase. The fair therefore offers a good opportunity to meet future employers,” commented Emma Lehtonen, Chair of the Student Union Board.
