VYY’s Board and RepCo Chairs for the year 2024 have been selected

The Student Union of the University of Vaasa (VYY) elected the new RepCo Chairs for the Student Union in the first part of the Representative council's organizational meeting on 21 November 2023. Tiina Saukko (Warranttilaiset) was elected as President, Rasmus Hakala (Kampusporvarit) as First Vice President and Aino Leveälahti (Unioni) as Second Vice President. Representative council is the highest decision-making body of the RepCo. 

In the first part of the meeting, the RepCo also elected Emma Lehtonen to form the Board. Lehtonen has been a member of the Student Union's Board, responsible for organizations and international affairs in 2023.

In the second part of the meeting on 4 December 2023, Lehtonen presented her proposal on the Board's composition to theRepCo. The proposal was approved unanimously without voting. Therefore, Roni Haakana, Jenni Hiltunen, Alina Järvipetäjä, Jonni Kuortti, Sofié Leikkilä, Maria Saita and Lotta Salminen were elected as members of the Board for 2024. Lehtonen will be the Chair of the Board. In the phorto from left to right are Hiltunen, Kuortti, Lehtonen, Salminen, Leikkilä and Saita.

"I am happy to work for student advocacy and community with this board. I would also like to thank the RepCo groups for their cooperation during the formation process. It's a good start for open communication for next year as well. I look forward to working together with the board in the coming year," said Lehtonen.

The board is responsible for the operational activities of the Student Union. Board members will be assigned responsibilities in their first board meeting in January 2024.
