The Student Union of the University of Vaasa held a dinner for organizations, where we gave recognition to organizations and active members. VYY wants to acknowledge volunteers who spend their time to improve our community and the student culture in Vaasa.
Organizations work actively for students
VYY’s jury awarded Hallinnoijat ry the award for Organization of the year. Hallinnoijat has done exemplary work in all areas and fostered a sense of community in the entire academic community. The jury also gave thanks for the organization’s active support to other organizations and for the strong sense of belonging among its members.
Hallinnoijat ry also received the award for advocacy for their active, inclusive, and visible advocacy in the academic community. The organization has shown initiative in educational politics as well as the Representative Council elections by forming a new council group, which gained notable support in the elections.
The prize for community and equality went to CoMedia ry. The jury noted the organization’s work in launching creative, low-threshold concepts to foster a sense of community. CoMedia ry has improved equality in the academic community and their own organization with their actions.
Vaasa Entrepreneurship Society VES received the award for membership services. They have worked relentlessly on improving their membership services, and have created networking and learning opportunities for students with their active cooperation. Their approach shows the intention of serving their members comprehensively.
The jury awarded Tutti ry the award for events for their development in organizing events. Tutti ry has created new event concepts and developed existing ones. The jury thanked the organization for memorable, moving events that encourage interdisciplinary and collective activities.
The wellbeing organization of the year was also given to Tutti ry. This award was given for the first time this year as recognition for organizing events that improve students’ wellbeing and for making wellbeing a pivotal part of the organization’s operations.
Active members work for the community
VYY’s community includes a vast number of active, enthusiastic, and motivated members, and we received several suggestions for both Active member of the year and Go-getter of the year awards.
The jury chose Daniel Kallström as active member of the year. Kallström has actively participated in the Student Union, worked as a tutor, and worked notably in his study track club Fructus. He is a representative in Tutti ry and is vice-chair in next year’s board.
Two members were given the award for Go-getter of the year. The awardees are helpful, exemplary, and motivated, and they have done significant, visible work in organizations. This award was given to Sanni Rytkönen for exceptionally visible and active work in her subject organization and as VYY’s tutor and to Laura Vuorenoja for being an active participant in the Representative Council, as an administration student representative, and as Chair of subject organization Warrantti ry.
This year, we also awarded administration student representatives for active participation and excellent reporting. This recognition award was given to Mimmi Eskelä, Emma Lehtonen, and Laura Karppinen.
We congratulate all award recipients and want to thank all volunteers who give their time to our community!
