The Student Union's instructions for early fall of 2020

The Student Union of the University of Vaasa (VYY) has spoken with the authorities about the current status of the COVID-19 virus outbreak. We take the prevention of the pandemic seriously and responsibly, and we want to prevent the second wave to the best of our abilities.

• A significant number of VYY's members come to Vaasa from outside Ostrobothnia. Making responsible instructions regarding the fall is important. Close contacts can increase to high numbers at events. 
• We will cancel and postpone all Student Union events that would take place in nightclubs. This includes some of LocalWappu and freshmen events. 
• We recommend that organizations within the Student Union cancel or postpone events that will take place in nightclubs. 
• We will cancel all events that take place indoors, and close contact with other people can’t be prevented.
• We recommend that organizations within the Student Union cancel or postpone events where close contact with other people can’t be prevented.
• VYY will help the organizations within the Student Union as much as possible financially, if it is not possible for the organization to get refunds, for example, on rents.
• In VYY’s Facebook events’ descriptions, you can find information on whether the event has been moved or canceled, or whether the event will be changed to an outdoor event.
• We recommend that other student organizations and Student Unions in Vaasa cancel or postpone events where close contact with other people can’t be prevented. 

VYY organizes its events to take place outdoors, where close contacts can be prevented. We will ensure that at VYY’s freshmen events that close contact of over 50 people will not occur. This is done by, for example, limiting the interaction between freshmen groups. 

We understand that the situation is annoying, however, we want to provide a safe environment for everyone.
