Nominate the Best Teacher awardee 2025

The Student Union of the University of Vaasa VYY annually gives out the Best Teacher Award, an honorary mention, and the Best Thesis Supervisor Award to esteemed teachers based on submitted nominations. The Student Union’s Advocacy Committee decided on the criteria for the awards in their meeting on 16 December 2025. The awardees will be selected by the Student Union’s Executive Board.

Best Teacher

The theme for the Best Teacher Award 2025 is diverse teaching. In the selection, we are focusing on teachers who can use digital tools in remote and hybrid teaching and develop in-person teaching in an inspiring and pedagogically excellent way. In the process, we emphasize inspiring and innovative teaching methods regardless of the location of the teaching. 

Honorary Mention

For this year’s honorary mention, we are requesting proposals for teachers who promote learning by providing constructive and developmental feedback. In the selection process, we will highlight the teacher’s ability to give individualized feedback and to receive feedback in order to develop their own teaching.

Best Thesis Supervisor

For the Best Thesis Supervisor Award 2025, we are looking for submissions that emphasize motivating and excellent supervision of Bachelor’s or Master’s theses. Our selection criteria emphasize the supervisor’s ability to support students in the thesis process.

You can nominate recipients for these awards with a Google Forms survey. We request that you send your nominations backed by clearly written reasoning by 18 January 2026.
