Heidi Elers elected as formateur for Executive Board 2026

The Representative Council of the Student Union of the University of Vaasa has elected Heidi Elers as formateur in its meeting on 25 November 2025. Elers, who is a second-year student in administrative sciences, if currently the Board member responsible for educational affairs. She will present her proposal on the composition of the 2026 board in the RepCo meeting on 9 December. If the RepCo accepts the proposal, Elers will become Chair of the Executive Board for 2026.

The current year as a board member also inspired Elers to apply as formateur.
“I’ve followed the current Chair Jenni Hiltunen’s work, which has been inspiring”, Elers compliments her predecessor. “The past year in the board has been a rewarding experience, and I also started to get a vision on what next year could look like.”

In 2026, Elers expects a sense of making things happen and gaining new insights. She considers growing the sense of community between Board members and the entire Student Union. 
“This year’s Board has invested into cultivating a sense of community and closeness, so I want to continue that work and take it further”, Elers says.

She wants to work with a Board that is not only communal, but also an effective, headstrong advocate. 
“Wellbeing and community on campus are current topics. Additionally, the Board’s year 2026 will comprise of preparing for the Parliamentary elections and of the new higher education consortium.”
