The Student Union of the University of Vaasa awards the annual Best Teacher Awards. The Student Union may also award honourable mentions to other deserving teachers on the basis of nominations. In addition, the Student Union would like to award the Student Support Award for the first time.
With this award, the Student Union wishes to thank teachers for their important work in promoting studies and to encourage the development of teaching.
The criteria for the award were decided by the Committee of Student Interests on 5 December 2024 and the decision was made on the basis of proposals from students at the Student Union Board meeting on 23 January 2025.
In 2024, the Student Union will award the best teacher for interactivity. The selection focused on the teacher's ability to give and receive individual feedback to improve their teaching.
Students' suggestions highlight the teacher's willingness to focus on individual feedback both at the end of the course and during the course. The teacher is also positive and developmental about the feedback received.
The Best Teacher 2024 award goes to Juho-Pekka Mäkipää
In 2024, the Student Union will award an honorary mention for inspiring teaching. The award will be given to a teacher who receives special praise from students for an inspiring and motivating teaching style.
