VYY donated rainbow flags to the University of Vaasa and The Student Housing Foundation in Vaasa to celebrate Pride


The Student Union of the University of Vaasa (VYY) donated rainbow flags to the University of Vaasa and the Vaasa Student Housing Foundation (VOAS) in honor of Pride Week that is celebrated in June.

Rainbow flags were accepted by Marko Ylimäki, the Executive Director of VOAS, and Elina Kaunismäki, Human Resources Manager at the University of Vaasa, and Sannakaisa Holmlund, member of the Equality Work Group of the University of Vaasa.

The Student Union of the University of Vaasa raises a rainbow flag in honor of Pride Week. The Student Union aims to be the most equal student union in Finland. VYY community and equality are the most important resources of our Student Union. 

“Every member of our Student Union is respected and welcome just as they are. It’s great that the University of Vaasa and VOAS accepted the flags and our cooperation towards a better student life continues,” commented Elmo Nikula, Chair of the Board of the Student Union.

Pride is an international human rights and cultural event celebrated in June. This year, Pride Week is celebrated from June 28th to July 4th,  2021. The rainbow flag is one of the most well-known symbols of the Pride movement.
